Record Keeping is a vital part of any farm operation. We have kept records of lineage and births since 2004. It makes it easy to look back and see patterns of health and birthing problems. It also gives one a look back to how many does or bucks a doe has produced. One can view records of bucks to determine if they throw more bucks than does or vice versa. If you are getting a higher percentage of bucks from a buck, you might consider selling him and acquiring new stock. Also, by keeping records, you can see any patterns that develop over the years. It is very difficult to remember these facts, but if you have them recorded, you can see patterns developing.
We will have a record keeping short course in the fall of 2012 and encourage you to attend. If you are interested please contact us.
